The Act
The band members bring to the stage over 250 years experience living,
working and playing in Western Queensland. The Ned and the Kellys
play list features contemporary versions of Australian bush songs
mixed with original material reflecting life in the modern bush.
Our repertoire features, poetry, folk music, and a generous smattering
of pop and rock songs. Performances feature a blend of tin whistle,
harmonica, banjo and mandolin, as well as the electric and double
bass, electric guitar and drum sounds.
Achievements
Ned and the Kellys produced their first album "There goes Ned
and the Kellys", in 1994, to raise money for the Royal Flying
Doctor Service local Charleville Auxiliary. The album boasts four
original songs along with many well-known and much-loved, traditional
Australian bush music.
Over the years the band has volunteered its services on many occasions
to support fund raising events for many outback community groups
and organisations including the Flying Royal Doctor Charleville
Auxiliary, the Queensland Cancer Fund and they are regular favourites
at the annual Save the Bilby Festival.
Ned and the Kelly's have proudly played support act to: Paul Kelly,
Anne Kirkpatrick, Lee Kernighan, Colin Buchanan, John Williamson,
Mental as Anything Jabaru, Col Joye, Women In Docs, Leo Sayer.
A highlight for Ned and the Kellys was our national tour of Ireland
(north and south) during October 2000. The tour included a special
performance at the Temple Bar Music Centre in Dublin where the live
show was recorded. After a great response from our first tour, Ned
and the Kellys were invited to tour Ireland again in 2002.
